Christmas spirit is in the air as Santa prepares himself for his annual trip around the world. The holidays are supposed to be relaxing, but if you are hosting your family party, they can be anything but. Use the tips below from The Maids of Dallas to host a stress-free gathering that your family is sure to remember and enjoy.
- Deck the halls. Christmas just wouldn't feel the same without lights, a tree, and the stockings hung by the chimney with care. Make sure your family feels the Christmas spirit by decorating your home – inside and out.
- Cook ahead. Holiday dinners can be as big as Thanksgiving, but that doesn't mean you need to spend your Christmas Day in the kitchen. Vegetables and other sides can easily be cooked a day or two in advance, stored in the refrigerator, and warmed up to serve with the main course.
- Set the table ahead of time too. Setting the table for your entire family can be time-consuming, which is why it should be done the night before. Getting it out of the way will leave you with one less item on your to-do list and you will be glad you did it when it comes time to serve the food.
- Make sure you have enough seating. If you have a large family, lack of seating at the dinner table can become an issue. Have an estimate of how many people will be attending your holiday get-together, and make sure you have sufficient seating for everybody. If you don't, consider leasing tables and chairs for the day from a local rental company.
- Clean. The more cleaning you do before your holiday party, the less you will have to do after. Start at your home's entryway and work from there; making sure to dust, vacuum, and organize everything that needs it. It will leave a good impression on your family and make them feel welcome into your house.
